CANVAS UNIFIED MESSAGING PLATFORM part I

31 12 2007

NETWORK ARCHITECTURE

In the Canvas Unified Messaging many regional access servers are controlled and supported by central servers.. Access server runs F-SMS and Voicemail applications. Turk Telecom subscriber calls are connected to access server. Access server behaves as a telephone switch in Turk Telecom network. Signalling and media access is provided by HP Open Call Media Platform (OCMP). Pre-paid charging server is developed by Telenity. Master LDAP servers are also located in central servers.

For Voicemail system, there are two central servers which are located in Istanbul and Ankara. However in F-SMS system there is only one access server which is located in Ankara. There are 9 access servers for both systems which are located in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Trabzon ?two for Ankara and Istanbul and one for others. Each access server is connected to the central server.

Central Unit is the most significant module of the Canvas UMS platform. It provides all message storage, configuration, e-mail server, LDAP server functionality for the Canvas UMS Platform.

Canvas Core

Canvas Core provides the DMI infra-structure to the whole of the system. The servers in the system provide 99.999% accessibility. If a problem arises in the server, in any way, Canvas Core becomes aware of this and secures distribution of the jobs on the problem server, to the other servers. In addition, Canvas Core removes the necessity to define resources each time during service development.

Database

The database in the Central Units is responsible for keeping the information related to the system, central configuration information, synchronized access server configurations, user database, statistical information, access and other records, CDR records, central account information for prepay users. The databases in the Central Units are synchronized regularly, providing access to the information from both sides.

System Management

System Management is realized through WEB interfaces and Java Applications accessible over TCP/IP protocol. Canvas Managed Objects (MO) structure is the platform which can setup all types of configurations on the system. By using MO, System Management can manage system warnings and error messages.

Web Server

The Central Unit accommodates a WEB server on itself for User WEB and WAP Portal. The User WEB and WAP Portal allows the user to access all his messages over Internet and IM, provides the facilities for adjusting message box settings.

The Operator accesses the WEB interface and Java Interfaces, in a fully secure way, over the central unit, for purposes of system management and Customer Services

All accesses to the system are secured by placing the Web Server behind a firewall.

SMTP Server

The SMTP server on the system provides for welcoming inbound e-mail messages, transmission of messages using VPIM protocol and establishing communication, through the VPIM protocol, with other voice message systems and with Unified Messaging systems. The Central Unit in the system and SMTP servers have been utilized for the purpose of transmission, re-direction of e-mail messages and for carrying other messages.

LDAP Server

LDAP server is used for the purpose of authorizing, reaching user settings and message information, when the system is accessed, by keeping user profiles. LDAP records in the Access servers and central servers are regularly synchronized for each server. Thus, user can reach their profiles, consequently their message boxes without staying attached to any access server.
